For every QB who started poorly and became good later, I can name 10 that started poorly and are now working as high school coaches.
2nd unit doesn't need to outscore the first unit, but the second unit can't continue to get thoroughly beat by opponents.
Bruce, point differential is a big concern, because when the starters leave, you're seeing other teams make big runs.
Linda, the DH is a HUGE reason. You're facing a potentially elite hitter 3 times when instead you'd be facing a pitcher who hits .077.
"Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?"
Someone on the roster right now will be the backup. Probably Ponder. But I think they'll draft someone.
I hate watching NFL games in the stadium. It's awful, IMO. Loud idiots, too much down time, parking sucks, expensive... Plus, I don't get to watch the Red Zone channel
Someone just asked about Nnamdi Asomugha but I accidentally deleted the comment instead of posting.... I don't see it happening because he's been real bad this season.
Would be very surprised if they brought him in
Perhaps they can, all I'm saying is it's concerning. The elite teams have more than serviceable reserves -- SA, MIA, etc. Minnesota, to this point, does not
Asomugha and Revis are good examples of why system/coaching/scheming are so important in the NFL
Yes, I've watched games from the press box at TCF, but never the stands. I like TCF a hell of a lot better than the Metrodome.
"Am I the only one who thinks Musgrave is just not a natural, instinctive play caller?"
In certain roles, sure. But don't argue the Wolves bench> the Spurs bench
Yeah, Shved is not good. I'm not even sure how much potential he has... If he were a better shooter, I'd be more optimistic. But he's not... And he doesn't really defend either.
Yeah he's been pretty bad. And was awful down the stretch when teams realized he wasn't interested (or capable?) in playing a physical brand of basketball. There's still enough positives (jumper, dribble penetration) to think he can be a reserve. But inconsistent shooting, poor defense and lack of toughness on the ball make it hard to see him being a real good player.
Most players on the Wolves roster are definitively good at one thing, or multiple things... Cunningham rebounds, defends, shoots mid-range.... Barea can score, shoot... Dieng can block shots, rebound... What does Shved do well?
Getting an open shot in the final seconds for your best shooter -- I'm actually OK with that.
I don't think they designed it to be a three-pointer... But Barea stumbled and the play didn't develop. It wasn't a horrible look.
Bruce, I'm not sold on the Wolves bench yet. When Budinger comes back, the team will be deeper. But he's out til Jan.
OK. That's the most amazingly stupid thing anyone has said in this chat so far.
The biggest thing for Spielamn -- if he's retained and allowed to make the hire -- will likely be someone to whom he does not need to cede roster control
Navyvike -- I think he's back under center next week. But that's just a hunch.
Linda, that eliminates a lot of big names being floated out there right now
I've been surprised every week he hasn't started
Spielman has a lot less job security than TR
